One Year Since The First COVID Lockdowns – Is There Any Hope?
As we pause and reflect on this past year as well as consider the ongoing pandemic, some may feel there is finally a slight cause for hope. But what is it we are hoping for?
Are we just hoping for this horrible virus to go away or for enough people to gain immunity? Are we hoping for life to go back to normal?
“There is nothing wrong hoping for those things; but even if that happened…there are still lots of troubles that simply will not go away.”
Other illnesses will continue to claim lives.
Death may still take a loved one or any of us at a moments notice.
And many will continue to suffer with loneliness, worry and despair.
But there is a Hope!
That hope is in Jesus Christ.
For the Christian, God speaks of this hope being “within you.”
If you are born-again and have Jesus as your Saviour, God says you will have a “living hope” that will never “fade away” in this life or for all eternity.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.1 Peter 1:3-5
To discover more about this hope, listen to a special Bible study we did one year on from the pandemic.
In this study, we took time to reflect on how this pandemic affects a Christian and the reason for the hope that we still can have in Jesus Christ.
